Raw Material Company cordially invites you to the screening of “Songho” a documentary by Kady Diédhiou on Friday January 18th, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Raw Material Company – Zone B, rue sans soleil villa N° 2B.
Synopsis
The story of Songho Faye, 45 years old, a Senegalese man, half madman, half genius. His deepest desire is to reintegrate the society.
As a young man, he leaves for Gambia to find work and begin a musical career, but loses himself in contraband, and becomes a big cannabis consumer, which creates an addiction. For twenty years now, he has been receiving treatment at the Psychiatric Hospital of Thiaroye, in the suburbs of Dakar. He lives there, in a small room set up behind the buildings. There, in the middle of the vegetable garden, in a calm and isolated environment, he writes songs, both philosophical and dreams of musical glory.
His struggle is to release his first musical album.
