Naomi Lulendo

Naomi Lulendo (born 1994 in Paris) divides her time between Paris and Guadeloupe. She graduated from École Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in June 2018. Her studies were in design and architecture.

In her work, Naomi explores the notions of screen and surface, playing with the precariousness of the materials used and the détournement of their nature.

Since 2016, she has been examining the link between urbanism and architecture, focusing her research on the idea of ​​ standardized exoticism.

Naomi inventories symbols and generic images specific to cities with diametrically opposed localities, raising in particular the question of the invention of the idea of ​​a place and the disappearance of architectural particularities.

Colorimetry has significant importance in her work. Beyond a desire to create visual harmony, color evokes a synthesized natural landscape and maps specific hues to specific places.

Naomi recently participated in a project for the Dakar Biennial (April-May 2018) with a group of about ten students from the École Nationale des Arts in Dakar and the students of Pascale Marthine Tayou’s art workshop (Beaux-Arts de Paris).
