Canan Batur is an independent curator and writer based in London. She recently co-curated It was a dream of a trip at SAFA Gallery, Shanghai and Chants of Disorder at Les Bains, Paris. Her upcoming projects include; a series of workshops and an exhibition in collaboration with a North-London based, womxn-oriented local community group, and New Myths: The Raw and the Cooked at 1.1 Basel, as well as a residency at Rupert in Vilnius, Lithuania. Her practice focuses on developing exhibitions and performative events aimed at investigating the ways to collaborate and to excavate neglected and fractured identities, hence the relationship between display, identity, and representation. She was previously a member of the curatorial bureau for the Baltic Triennial 13 ’s (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania), and worked for Cell Project Space (London), Chisenhale Gallery (London) and Istanbul Modern Museum (Istanbul). She is also the co-founder of clearview.ltd, a North-London based project space and of Nikki Agency, a new platform of cultural producers interested in collective projects and cross-field practices. She completed her MA in Curating Contemporary Art at Royal College of Art, UK in 2017.
