Phokeng Tshepo Setai was born in Bloemfontein (South Africa) in 1992 and is currently based in Cape Town (South Africa). He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology, under the program: The Narrative Study of Lives from University of the Free State. He is currently an Early Career Fellow with the Centre for Humanities Research and a Ph.D. candidate at the Sociology/ Anthropology Department at University of the Western Cape. Setai works multi-disciplinarily as an academic, photographer, video-maker and aspiring cultural worker and producer. He is an associate consultant with Belle & Co., a social entrepreneurship-based research, policy and training company, where he advises on youth policy around social and cultural entrepreneurship. In 2018, Setai participated in a European Union Erasmus program funded workshop that took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. He represented South Africa and Africa in sharing knowledge about social and cultural entrepreneurship on the African continent. Setai also participated in one of the first Decolonial Aesthesis workshops held at Rhodes University in July 2018.
