Bienvenue Fotso Gunsi

Bienvenue Fotso Gunsi (Bandjoun, 1989) is a Cameroonian visual artist who lives and works in Douala. She trained in the studios of the Futur'Art association, an artists' collective that works towards the training and promotion of young people. From 2015 to 2019, she joined the studio of artist Maurice Pégoué, with whom she works regularly. She is also a graduate of Ateliers Kam'art 2021 (a photography training workshop).

She has developed a body of work she calls "archi-landscapes", which enables her to poetically evoke the multiple, interrelated destinies of humankind and forests, in order to explore nature as a whole. Her artistic practice is most often expressed in painting, but also in photography and video.

Bienvenue has taken part in several exhibitions, including his first solo 'FIPAN-GRASS' (African Art Beats Gallery, Washington 2022), 'La place de l'humain' (Douala 2017), at doual’art, as part of the fourth edition of the international public art triennial, SUD (Salon Urbain de Douala); 'AUJOURD'HUI' (Yaoundé 2019), a group show at the Musée National curated by M. Simon Njami, and "Une vision contemporaine Acte VIII" (Yaoundé 2018) at the World Bank headquarters, both World Bank initiatives; Artu'Elles Interférences (2020) at the Annie Kadji Art Gallery.
