Maguette Dieng

Maguette Dieng is a DJ, Producer and Music Programmer from Barcelona dedicated to the research and divulgation of music and sound.

She DJs under the name Mbodj where the motivating force has a lot to do with transforming the way the Western look at electronic and advanced music and how we can and should create community and possibility through sound.

She is also the co-founder of the musical collective Jokkoo, formed by six members of the African diaspora based in Barcelona that explores and disseminates electronic and experimental black music through the organization of events, parties, curation of festivals, music production and shows at different international radios.

Along with Jokkoo and other two collectives, Maguette co-manages an alternative cultural space in Barcelona called FOC where they host events, workshops, exhibitions and that is also a reference space for music and arts experimentation.

In the last years, Maguette has been co-organizing music and sound workshops in Barcelona and Dakar trying to bring a more speculative approach to sound investigation and practice.
